Shoshoni Schools

Technology Innovators, December 2020

I have worked as a Technology Coordinator, mentor, and instructor for Shoshoni Schools for over 30 years. Shoshoni is a small town located in central Wyoming. I was instrumental in helping Shoshoni become one of the first public schools in Wyoming to connect all instructional classrooms to the Internet in the early 90’s. Later, Shoshoni Schools became an early adopter of one-to-one student computing. All K-12 Shoshoni students are equipped with a computer and technology education.

My co-worker, Jesse Smith, is the district’s Technology Director. Jesse teaches a four-year STEM program in addition to running the BNTY1 Cardano stake pool. Together, Jesse and I teach a program at Shoshoni Schools that is well known for technology innovation.

Shoshoni Students have distinguished themselves several years in a row competing in blockchain challenges at the annual University of Wyoming WyoHackathon. It has been my honor to mentor Shoshoni students as well as to compete in the world-renowned Wyoming Stampede event held in Laramie, Wyoming.

I am grateful to have found the Cardano project. Running a Cardano stake pool is an honor. I appreciate those whom delegate to the 307 Pool. I intend to spend the rest of my life learning, sharing, and teaching Cardano technologies.

According to the official Cardano website, “Cardano is a blockchain platform for changemakers, innovators, and visionaries, with the tools and technologies required to create possibility for the many, as well as the few, and bring about positive global change.”

Wyoming and Blockchain

Wyoming is known for many things. It was the first state to grant women the right to vote. Wyoming also had the first national park, the first national forest, first national monument, the first female governor in the United States, and the first Limited Liability Company. However Wyoming has not always been known for technology innovation.

Recently passed blockchain-friendly legislation has transformed Wyoming from one of the worst states for blockchain to one of the best. With twenty blockchain-friendly laws on the books and more in the works that deal with things like identity and decentralized autonomous organizations. Wyoming is a global blockchain leader.

In my book, everyone on the Wyoming Legislative “Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology” is a rockstar. With people like Cailin Long and Tyler Lindholm pulling for our state, we are in good hands..

With the advent of the Wyoming Special Purpose Depository Institution (SPDI) charters by Kraken Financial and Avanti Financial firing up, the University of Wyoming hosting the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede, one of the best annual blockchain events in existence, and companies such as Input Output Global setting up LLC’s in Wyoming. I’m very pleased and excited for the future as a Wyoming resident.
